Cao Bang geography

1. National geography

One of mountainous provinces shares the border with China’s QuangXi, in the NorthEast of  Vietnam, Cao Bang shares its border with HaGiang and Tuyen Quang, its Southern territory located near by Bac Kan and Lang Son.

It is about 300km from national highway to drive to Hanoi capital but just 130km from Lang Son province.

2.Topography

This province is known as one of global karst plateau, has the peak Phja Da about 2000m, Phja Da ( Bao Lam) 1980m, Phja Oac ( Nguyen Binh) 1931m. Especially, this province has many places with different steep levels

Cao Bang has its own natural geography, covered by pleateau mixed with land, the average altitude of more than 600 – 1300m above sea level. The whole province has more than 90% area while the percentage land for  cultivation is just 10%.

3. Climate

Cao Bang is endowed by tropical forest and its unique characteristics because this province is believed as the gate to welcome the winter wind to the North from China.

4. Rivers system

Bằng river begins the flow from Nà Vài mountain, about 10km from Soc Giang to North West. This river becomes well – known not only by its length of 110km with 4 branches but also its own potential hydropower. The another longer river with the length of 38km is Quay Son river flow through  Trung Khanh and Ha Lang provinces.
